Google [x]

This video Is done by a You-tuber called Boyinaband. He is very funny and informative. In the video he talks about Google’s secret research arm called Google [x]. Google [x] does projects (or as they call them, moonshots) that are helping advance technology in our world today. They invented the self driving car that has driven over 700,000 miles and only been in an accident once, and that was when someone rear ended it. They created Google Glasses, the glasses that let you film what you are seeing. They are also working on a moonshot called Google Loon. Google Loon is the idea of giving the whole world internet using giant floating wind turbines. They are working on contact lenses that monitor glucose in tears, so diabetic people will know when their blood sugar is low.

Google [x] created an artificial neural network that when given 10 million images from Youtube thought itself what a cat is. They Tried some moonshots that didn’t work out too. They successfully made a working prototype of a hoverboard but then said it would cost to much to manufacture. They also tried to create teleportation but concluded that, “The idea violates several laws of physics.”

I really enjoyed this video. I think it was witty and insightful. I love learning things like this, things that are changing our world. I also think this video is well worth 5 minutes of your time, because I believe more people should know and be interested in this like this.

Stik

Stik is a street artist in London. He has been creating stik people for more that 10 years. He has art work all over the world as well as a book or two.

Stik-Street-Art-London-Pitfield-Street-Thief-1     I love the simplicity of the art. Even though they are simple shapes there is still emotion in them. He also went to the remote island of Utsira to paint the two wind turbines that power their whole population.

Edina Tokodi

Edina Tokodi is an artist who explores the connections between nature and the man made world. Her art work is inspired by zen gardens and always has an excellent contrast with its surroundings. She founded an organization called Mosstika, which is a group of Eco-minded street artists dedicated to inspired public art. She does indoor art, street art, and papper works. mosstika_green-wall1

This one is my favorite because it is so creative, a portrait made of metal and moss. the contrast its self is amazing, not to mention the person she created with it.

I also enjoy the paper work because instead of painting grass, she actually put grass and dirt on her paper and made something beautiful. papers2I love everything green and nature so of course I love all her art, but there is something more to it than that. I also love the things she depicts in her art, the animals, the faces, the patterns. I love every aspect of this art work and it inspires me to do my own.

Concetta Antico

Concetta Antico is an Australian artist with an amazing condition called Tetrachromacy that allows her to see 100 million colors, 100 times more than someone with normal vision. Tetrachromats have four color receptors in their eyes instead of the usual three. Her artwork reflects this in the way that it is very colorful and she add subtle color variations that shows us how she sees the world.                                                                                                                                                                  the-ironbark-eucalyptus-i-love-australia-18x36

This piece is called, The Ironbark Eucalyptus. I love this one because of how subtly colorful it is. At first glance the thing that stands out the most is white, red, and green, then once I really look at it I see the orange, blue, yellow, and pink hues that make it so amazing. The brush strokes all going down give it an organized feeling, while the undefined lines make it almost messy, in a good way.

Concetta Antico does oil paintings of flowers, birds, creatures, landscapes, seascapes, still life, and nocturnes. She has been an art teacher for many years and only found out about her Tetrachromacy in 2012.
